I’ll be attending FF14 Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo in person this weekend, October 31 and November 1. I lost the ticket lottery when I applied myself, but a connection I made in the game gave me a chance to go.

I also won a reservation slot for “Edda’s Bag,” which I’d been looking forward to. Now I’m waiting for the announcements at the event.

From a Savage raid static to Fan Festival

It started when I joined a Savage raid static. Savage is one of FF14’s high-difficulty raid settings, and a static is a group that regularly tackles raids with the same members.

Someone had left the group partway through the tier, leaving them short of a member. I joined to fill the gap and ended up playing Samurai, which isn’t my main job.

We managed to clear every fight in the Arcadion’s Heavyweight Savage tier. We stayed in touch after finishing the raids, and through that connection, someone offered to share a Fan Festival ticket with me.

The group needed another player, I joined, we cleared the raids together, and now I’m going to Fan Festival. I think it was pure luck that things connected this way. I’m grateful that someone was willing to share a ticket with me.

I got a slot for “Edda’s Bag”

Once I knew I could attend, I applied for an advance activity reservation . The one I wanted was “Edda’s Bag.”

Hearing that it was a mystery-solving experience involving Daiyon Kyokai, or Fourth Boundary, really caught my interest. The official description calls it an ARG collaboration with Fourth Boundary. An ARG is a game in which you take part in a story set in the real world.

There was a time when I was really into “AlterCarnival,” a mystery-solving experience that unfolded in real time. That makes me especially curious about what this kind of experience will be like with FF14.

And this time, I won the lottery. On top of getting to attend Fan Festival, I’ll get to try the activity I’d been interested in.

The keynote announcements are what I’m most excited about

With my attendance and “Edda’s Bag” slot settled, the big thing left to look forward to is new information. That makes the keynote the main event for me.

First, the new job. The tank job Bastion was already announced for Evercold at the European Fan Festival, but I’m curious about the other new job, a physical ranged DPS.
I’m almost certain it’ll use a crossbow, like the weapon carried by a character in the latest main scenario quests. If it turns out to be something completely different, that should be fun to see in person.

I’m looking forward to the music in the full trailer, too. Sometimes I rewatch FF14 trailers just to listen to the music. I wonder what the song will sound like in its full form.

Then there are Reborn Mode and Evolved Mode. I want to learn more about how the actions and the feel of playing will actually change. I’m curious about what will happen to the jobs I’ve been playing, as well as the new ones.
I have a vague feeling it might be something like the PvP actions, but I’m counting on hearing more at the keynote.

And, of course, there’s the release date. The official site lists January 2027, but I want to know the exact day. Will it be early in the month or toward the end? I hope work won’t be too hectic then… I’m looking forward to finding out how much they’ll reveal at the event.

Aside from that, I’ll probably enjoy the concerts and wander around the venue. For now, I’m just looking forward to the weekend.
Tomorrow, it’s out of work on time and straight to the overnight bus!
